GAAC is excited to take over the annual summer Music in the Park series. The series, started in 2002, hosts an average of 14 bands or musicians over the course of 14-16 weeks following the Thursday Farmer’s Market. The music usually begins around 7:30 pm, but may depend on the particular group.
The mission of the series is to generate excitement in the Central Business District and expand the Grinnell community’s access to live music.
The GAAC subcommittee takes care of soliciting sponsorships, booking musicians, promoting the bands, and supervising food sales and general activities during the performances. The subcommittee usually begins looking for bands in January to fill the summer weeks. We do try to pay each band/performer, even though we are a small non-profit with limited funds.
Check out our arts calendar page for the summer schedule.
