GOALS

SUPPORT

Provide financial stability for full-time music therapy services in Grinnell.

EDUCATE

Present information as to the value of music for personal health and enjoyment of life.

PROVIDE

Coordinate and present music as an experience to improve the quality of life for individuals.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

The Music + Health Program exists under the umbrella of the Grinnell Area Arts Council. The program provides necessary underwriting support and works with Music Speaks, a professional music therapy business, to maintain a full-time music therapist.

Also, working in conjunction with the therapist and the Music + Health steering committee, the Grinnell Area Arts Council provides education services as to the therapeutic value of music and supports music experiences to improve the quality of life for individuals in need in the Grinnell community. These might include people residing in nursing homes, home-bound individuals, and those suffering from physical or mental health issues or disabilities.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

The Music + Health Program is a two-year pilot program that began in August 2018. The Steering Committee has already received commitments and contributions of $45,000 and seeks to match that with an additional $150,000. Help us reach our goal by giving at whatever level you can. Donations may be made to the Grinnell Area Arts Council, PO Box 657, Grinnell, IA — and are deductible to the extent permitted. Or use the button below to donate online!
