GRINNELL COMMUNITY BAND

Since 1988, the Grinnell Community Band has been the soundtrack to summer in the Jewel of the Prairie. Founded by director Jack Williams and a dedicated board including Dr. JR Paulson and Larry and Elsie Johnson, the ensemble officially joined the Grinnell Area Arts Council family in 2011.

Today, the band is a true multi-generational tradition. On any given performance day, you’ll find neighbors and families—from students to retirees—playing side-by-side. Whether they are honoring veterans at Memorial Day services or providing lively sounds for the Farmers Market and Music in the Park, the band brings the community together through the universal language of concert music.
