Creatures of Grinnell
Public Art Project

Get ready to explore Grinnell in a whole new way!

Creatures of Grinnell is a new public art project celebrating the imagination of our local youth and the unique spirit of our community.

Throughout town, you'll find a series of 15 whimsical public art installations—all based on original creature designs dreamed up by Grinnell's very own kids.

How the Magic Happened

In the summer of 2025, the Grinnell Area Arts Council collected creature drawings from creative kids at Art in the Park, the Farmers Market, the Link program, and various Arts Council camps. A dedicated "Creature Committee" then selected 15 of these imaginative monsters and animals to be transformed into large-scale, outdoor art pieces for residents and visitors to discover.
