If it’s summer, it must be Thursday Music in the Park! Join the Grinnell Area Arts Council on Grinnell’s Central Park Stage at 7:00 pm on summer Thursdays for music from old favorites and new finds. Bring your blankets and camp chairs, grab a bite from a local restaurant or a food truck and park yourself for a musical evening! Read on for more information about 2025’s bands!

MAY 29
IOWA WOMEN’S JAZZ ORCHESTRA (jazz) is a big band made up of women musicians from across the state dedicated to showcasing and inspiring ​the participation of women and girls in jazz, featuring Grinnell Elementary art instructor, Farren Johnson.

THE GRINNELL COMMUNITY BAND (concert band) returns for their summer season under the direction of Nathan Johnson, bringing together community members to play a variety of concert band music, from marches to movie medleys. Want to join? Email grinnellcommunityband@gmail.com!

JULY 3

TURLACH UR PIPE BAND (Scottish pipe band), is the largest pipe band in Iowa with over 30 band members. This drum and bagpipe band performs a variety of traditional pipe band pieces mixed with the unexpected pop or rock tune! Read more HERE.

THE WEARY RAMBLERS (folk/Americana) are an award-winning folk duo comprised of Chad Elliott and Kathryn Fox, showcasing multi-instrumental performances with tight harmonies and great storytelling.

MOJO MACHINE
(blues/rock) is a local institution. Band members Chris Sutliff, Neil Burkett, Craig Metz and Adam Bernemann play their own “Bluesicana” brand of music, a blend of Blues, Rock and Honky-Tonk.

JULY 24

BAREFOOT BECKY & THE INVANHOE DUTCHMEN (polka) are perennial park favorites, bringing their seasoned mix of polka favorites. Bring your dancing shoes!

JULY 31
TOO MANY STRING BAND (folk/Americana) is another Grinnell institution, finishing our summer with their crowd favorite mix of folk and traditional tunes.
