Express feelings about current events or something you have experienced. (There are no mistakes!)

Supplies: Glue stick + scissors + magazines + newspapers

How to:

1) Find a picture you like as a background

2) Cut out images that communicate / illustrate a current event.

3) Arrange them and glue them down.

Draw on the Wall (sort of)

Supplies: paper + markers + tape + magazines + glue stick

How to:

  1. Large paper to cover wall or tape several pages together.

  2. Tape paper to the wall. (Check with your parents!)

  3. Fill the paper with your imagination. Some options: maps, landscapes, mazes, trails, fantasy landscapes or hometown scenes.

How to:

  1. Fold paper many times to make small squares. Unfold.

  2. Draw from your imagination or from objects around the house.

Make a Simple Book About You

Illustrate and write your story. (Have fun--there are no mistakes!)

Materials:

  • paper

  • pencils + markers

  • glue

  • yarn, string or pipe cleaners

Instructions:

  1. Fold heavy paper and two plain pieces of paper in half, and then unfold. In the middle crease, poke three holes through all the pages.

  2. Starting from the outside of the book, poke a string through the middle hole.

  3. Then poke the string back through hole one, back through hole three and finally back through the middle hole.

  4. Tie the string ends coming through the middle hole together. Add beads or feathers etc.

  5. Attach head, wings, arms or legs to your book.

  6. Begin to illustrate and write your story.

Optional: Make a series of books about animals, pets, friends or family members.
